When your child is turning one there are so many emotions. You survived the first year, yay! But also, for me, that is the mark of toddlerhood. Your tiny baby is moving into a new stage, they are no longer 11 months old, but 1 year old. However, when your first year was filled with numerous hospital visits (both local and across the country), “surviving” takes on a whole new meaning. This family endured so much this past year as they searched for answers and ways to help treat their son’s hyperinsulinism. This sweet boy even had to spend his first birthday in the hospital in Texas. Yet through it all, this family has remained positive and has continued to pray and fight for the best care for their son.
I have had the blessing of photographing this sweet boy’s first year, starting with his stay in the NICU as a newborn, to newborn photos at home, last fall, and then recently as he turned one. He is such a smiley boy (when you see it you won’t be able to stop smiling either) with a big sister who loves him so. Happy birthday buddy!
