A Fresh 48 session is about capturing those first fleeting moments while you’re still in the hospital (or birth center) with your baby. It amazes me how quickly baby changes even from a Fresh 48 to a newborn session a week later.
Staying flexible during a Fresh 48 is key!
In preparation for Baby’s K’s Fresh 48, I maintained regular communication with mom leading up to his birth. We had a flexible plan in place so that once he arrived I would come to the hospital within 48 hours to capture him. Baby K arrived and was so precious. I couldn’t wait to capture him. However, due to blood sugar regulation challenges, he was transferred to the Seattle Swedish NICU. Although the location and the plan had changed, it was about capturing Baby K’s story, and it included a NICU stay. I started the session with mom as there was a two visitor limit. Capturing her loving on her sweet baby boy during his first hours of life was beautiful.

Then it was dad’s turn. He is such a proud papa. Looking at them in those first hours together melts my heart.

Mom shared a few sneak peeks of their Fresh 48 session on Facebook with these words, “Thank you, Neyssa! We love our photos, thank you for capturing this special time in our family’s life. Although we didn’t plan for the photos to be in the NICU, it’s part of his story and I’m so glad you reminded me of that and were able to capture it.” Her words are so kind and meaningful. They get to the core of why I love to capture families.
Baby K is doing well and settling in at HOME with his big sister, mom and dad.
Thank you for allowing me to photograph Baby K’s Fresh 48. It was my honor and I can’t wait for his newborn session.
