Luther Burbank Park is a gorgeous park on Mercer Island. It is one of those places that I love to take my own family for a little adventure.
Luther Burbank park is a gorgeous location for maternity photos every season.
As a Seattle maternity photographer, I believe Luther Burbank Park has so much to offer expecting families for their photos year round.
No matter which season your third trimester falls (as maternity photos typically take place 32-37 weeks) you can trust you’ll have a beautiful backdrop. The park has plenty of greenery year round, with gorgeous fall color, and beautiful spring blooms.
The park is large allowing for plenty of exploring, keeping kids interested and entertained during your session.
Luther Burbank Park is huge. Several sides of the park have beach access. There are also plenty of little trails for walking, open fields, giant trees, and even a “really awesome” (according to my kids) playground for after your session.
The sunsets at Luther Burbank Park are gorgeous for framing baby bumps in photos.
I’m a big fan of Luther Burbank because it has a little bit of the best of both worlds. The sun sets on the back side of the park, so if you have littles who go to bed earlier, we can easily filter the sun on slightly earlier sessions.
On the North end of the park is Calkins Point Sand Beach where the sunsets are gorgeous. You can watch the skyline, while I capture the sun surrounding your family.
If you’re looking for a maternity photo session with lots of variety, Luther Burbank Park is a great location option. Another little bonus, the park is easily accessible whether you’re coming from Seattle or the Eastside.
There are a couple of key things to consider about photos at Luther Burbank Park.
This park is popular, meaning it can get crowded. Since it’s a large park, we can usually find places for photos without people in your background. However, parking can be challenging on the weekends.
Luther Burbank Park also has an off leash dog area, which means it’s a prime spot for people with their dogs. If you are brining your dog to your maternity photo session, this park is only a good option if your dog isn’t easily distracted and gets along well with passing pups and their owners.
