Hi, I'm Neyssa

If you’re anything like me, as soon as you saw two pink lines on that pregnancy test your brain went into overdrive planning and dreaming about life with your newborn baby. Baby names, nursery colors, and what to put on your registry list are top of mind during those first months of pregnancy. I remember having so many questions about when it was too early to start a registry, or when to even register for the hospital (did you know you are supposed to pre-register at the hospital you plan to deliver at? It is supposed to help the hospital with staffing and planning around your due date). As a mom of 6, I could offer my tips on all of those topics. However, you’re most likely here wondering when you should book your Seattle newborn photography session.

Keep reading for my top tips as an in-home, lifestyle Seattle newborn photographer!

Family on the big bed for family photos with baby

The best time to book your Seattle newborn photography session is during your second to early third trimester.

A good rule of thumb is after you have your 20 week ultrasound to get your newborn photo session on the books.

Because when you book ahead of time, I am able to provide you with information to help you prepare for your session. When you hit your nesting phase, you’ll have something to prepare and focus on (instead of scrubbing the tub with a toothbrush!). This also allows plenty of time to do a maternity session or even prepare for a Fresh 48 session as well.

Booking your session early allows you time to prepare your outfits ahead of time.

Once baby arrives, the last thing you will want to do is worry about what everyone (including baby) will wear. Knowing you will have a Seattle newborn photography session, you can set things aside ahead of time.

In addition to providing tips on What to Wear for a Newborn Session, families often send photos to me of their outfit ideas for my input. I can help mom decide on clothing that is not only comfortable for her but that keeps the focus on baby, ensuring your newborn photos are timeless.

You will book with your due date not an actual Seattle newborn photography session date.

Babies are unpredictable. They can come early, late, or right on time. I don’t expect you to know exactly when you will deliver and/or feel ready for newborn photos.

Instead, we put your due date on my calendar to reserve your spot. As a Seattle newborn photographer, I limit the number of newborn sessions I take each month to ensure each family has the flexibility for photos needed during those first weeks with baby.

The last month of your pregnancy, you just keep me in the loop. Once baby is here we can pick a date. Most couples finalize the date in the hospital or once you are home and settled in. If your delivery was smooth and you’re feeling great and ready for photos 3 days after birth, wonderful. Or if you had a C-Section and need a little more time to heal, we can schedule closer to two weeks after delivery.

There is no “perfect” time to book your newborn session.

There is no right or wrong time to book your session. I have had couples book me at 3 months along,. Some families book their Seattle newborn photography session during those final days waiting for baby to arrive. Others have booked as soon as baby is here in their arms. These tips a guideline of what couples have found most helpful and relaxing when booking their newborn session. With this in mind, I cannot guarantee availability if you decide to wait to book your newborn session.

If you have suffered from pregnancy loss, I understand how hard it is to truly believe everything will turn out okay and thus make real plans. So if you need to wait, that is okay. I will do my best to make sure you are able to book a Seattle newborn photogrpahy session with me.
