Hi, I'm Neyssa

best dresses for girls who love to twirl

My girls have always been dancing, twirling, and flitting around the house. I was not a dress wearing kid growing up, so I had no idea that a dress could be better for twirling. It wasn’t until someone introduced me to Alice and Ames that I sat stunned at the amazing twirl of her little girl’s skirt. And just like that, we were on the hunt to find the best dresses for girls who love twirling.

Of course, if you know me, I’m also all about what photographs beautifully, what I can use not only things they love to wear all the time, but that will work well for my own family’ photo sessions.

With that I present the best dresses for girls who love to twirl (the list is approved by my own girls who love a good twirl!).

Best Overall Dress for Twirling – The Ballet Dress by Alice and Ames

We LOVE anything by Alice and Ames. Our favorites are the ballet dress for it’s classic cut, comfort and amazing twirl. I love how they are modest, feminine, (photograph beautifully) all while allowing my girls to run, jump, swing, PLAY!

They release colors seasonally and come in tank, short sleeve and 3/4 sleeve options. If you have been following along for a while you may have noticed most years my girls are in an Alice and Ames Dress.

Runner up for the Favorite Dress for Girls who Love Twirling – Remie Girl

Remie Girl is another small company that has several dress styles that fit nicely, twirling beautifully and photograph well. A bonus is that several styles have pockets for those little hands or little treasures.

(In the family photo above, my daughter Hudson is wearing a Remie girl dress in black, and Sawyer is wearing one from Alice and Ames)

A Few More Favorites – Primary and Hanna Anderson

Primary is one of my favorite places to find clothes for all of my kids. A company that started with a few basic solid colors has grown their selection tremendously, including plenty of twirling dress options. I love that Primary is affordable, durable, comes in tons of colors, and that you can find things that coordinate with siblings easily. While we love them for their basics like cardigans and under shorts (a must for girls who love to twirl in my house!), we discovered the Tutu Dress and the girls were in love. They wore these dresses not only for photos with Santa, but also for our own newborn session for their baby sister.

what to wear for Seattle family photos

Hanna Anderson has been a long time favorite place for me to shop for my kids. With clothing that lasts through washes and several kids, I’m a long time fan. A reason my girls love them? They have dresses that twirl beautifully.

Another perk, like Primary, you can find clothes for both your girls and boys that coordinate for family photos easily, making your life easier when shopping for outfits for family photos!
