If you’ve had maternity photos taken for your first child, having them taken for the second child can seem redundant. I mean, a baby bump, is a baby bump right? So should you have maternity photos taken for your second baby?
As a Seattle maternity and newborn photographer and a mom of 6, I understand the wonder if you should just stick with newborn photos with your baby. However, I’m here to offer things to consider before deciding.
Here are a few reasons you should consider having maternity photos for your second (and third and fourth) baby.
Your maternity photo session will document your baby before she’s a big sister.
The time just before a baby arrives is a unique time of the in-between. Your family has already been changed, but your first baby is still your baby. However, soon she will be a big sister.
Your maternity photo session will capture your family as you are just before baby, focusing not just on your baby bump, but on the baby before her life, too, is forever changed.
Your maternity photo session will be a gift for each child.
My children love looking through albums of themselves, including when they were in my tummy. It is special to be able to share that time with them, for them to see how loved they were, and what our family was like just before they arrived.
You will be able to do the same thing with your children too when you have a Seattle area maternity photo session for your second baby.
Each pregnancy is unique, beautiful and worth photographing.
Even if your pregnancy has been full of morning sickness and uncomfortable nights, and too many trips to the bathroom, or maybe it was full of worry as this is a pregnancy after a loss, your body is still amazing and doing something so miraculous. It is growing and preparing to bring life into this world. It does not matter how many times you’ve been pregnant, the miracle is still just that, a miracle.
The bottom line, you will not regret having maternity photos taken for your second baby.
