Have you considered an in-home maternity shoot to document this pregnancy?
A maternity photo session captures that fleeting time just before the baby arrives. It celebrates your family in that beautiful stage of anticipation, waiting, and excitement. It documents your amazing body as it’s growing your baby (or babies if you’re a soon-to-be twin mama!).
As a Seattle area photographer, I’m a lover of the outdoors for photos. And give me a golden hour session any day. Yet, there is so much to love about an in-home maternity shoot.
In this post you’ll find four of my top reasons for choosing to have your maternity session in your own home .
An in home maternity shoot is a more intimate experience.
With no one else but you and your partner, the focus is exclusively on you two. When you are in your own home you are most comfortable. You will be able to truly relax, melt into one another.
As we would use spaces like your master bedroom and/or the couch, the feel will naturally be more intimate.
With your session indoors, it can take place rain or shine.
If you live in the PNW you know how unpredictable the weather can be. Not to mention the fact that it rains more of the year than not. Due to the nature of maternity sessions (i.e. they need to take place when you’re nicely showing, such as after the 32 week mark), there is less control of the time of year your session needs to take place. If you’re not wanting something damp and cold, an in home maternity shoot might just be the best option for your family.
There is a beauty to having photos in the same space you will have your baby documented a few months later.
During your in home maternity shoot we can document the nursery before baby. We can show that beautiful baby bump waiting in the space made just for that baby.
In fact, much of the your maternity shoot would be in the same places your newborn session will take place giving you a sort of “before and after” set of photos.
An in home maternity session can more easily include your dog.
Dogs are welcome at every session, indoors or outdoors. However, the thought of bringing your dog out of the home might feel too overwhelming. Whether they are a puppy (like the adorable dog in these photos) or they are older, or maybe they just don’t do well with distractions, having your photographer (like your favorite Seattle photographer, me!) come to your home provides you a more comfortable solution for including your fur baby.
