When you first learn you are pregnant you don’t imagine having to spend time in the NICU. However, we are so grateful for modern medicine and those amazing NICU nurses and staff. But what about newborn photos for NICU babies?
Aren’t newborn photography sessions supposed to happen within the first two weeks of life? What if your baby spent the first week in the NICU and you need more time to adjust to life at home than a few days before having newborn photos. Or what if you had to spend longer than 2 weeks in the NICU?
Your newborn photo session can take place when YOU and your babies are home and ready.
Whether your babies are 5 days or 5 weeks old, your newborn photos will be beautiful. Your babies are still small (just wait until they are one year olds racing around the house), and your love just as special.
Once you know when you get to go home, you can contact me to finish scheduling your session date. We can plan according to what works for your family, not the “required” 2 week timeline.
Newborn sessions for NICU babies don’t require sleeping babies or awkward and uncomfortable poses.
The NICU was enough for your babies. They should be safe in your arms, snuggled where they are happiest, not forced into an awkward pose that may cause them more stress. There’s no spending hours trying to get your baby to sleep so we can pose her in an awkward pose that may not be comfortable for you. Instead she will be in your arms, or simply laid gently on the bed for portraits that truly capture their natural beauty.
Should your baby not be as sleepy as those first newborn days, that is okay too. Awake babies photograph beautifully, too.
