The best maternity poses are those that highlight your baby bump, while allowing you to be comfortable, and feel like the goddess you are.
These are three simple maternity poses I use in all of my Seattle Maternity photography sessions. While I guide you into poses, it is your family, your unique connections, your joy that make these poses your own. Of course, I capture the entire family together (whether there is one or eight of you). However, I will take you beyond the basic family photo to truly document this special time.
The first maternity pose is just mama and her baby bump.
This pose is about capturing a calm moment of appreciation while framing your baby with your hands. It is a beautiful miracle what your body is doing, growing a little being (or two!). There is this sense of anticipation, quiet joy and peace about becoming a mother.
This is a family favorite maternity pose as it is great for a break for the kids. The kids can get the wiggles out while we focus on you.
Here I coach you to angle yourself to the camera, frame your bump with your hands. Even more, I ask you to pop that knee forward and towards your other knee to accentuate your gorgeous shape. (You can rest easy. Not sure where to put your hands? I help you, make sure placement is most flattering and framing baby perfectly!).
Next the focus is on the expecting couple together.
Even if it is not your first child, you and your partner’s love for this baby will be highlighted. (Plus, it gives siblings a chance to take a little break).
Here I will guide you into a maternity pose that gets you close together. I know, I know, there’s a big bump in the way! That’s okay, we will highlight your bump while getting dad in close to you.
Finally, my most favorite maternity poses are those that feature mama and each of her kids individually.
There is something so special about showing a sibling love and bond before baby is even born. I take each child aside with their mom to put the focus all on your relationship. They will snuggle in close, feel for baby kicks, tell baby a story, or even give baby a kiss. We will follow each child’s lead, their age, and their personality for the prompt that best fits the moment.
These maternity poses together make for a beautiful collection of images you’ll cherish once baby is here. The photographs will show off that special time full of anticipation before baby, before your family changed.
