Hi, I'm Neyssa

Do you look forward to spring? Me, too! After a long, grey winter, the first sign of tiny buds have me excited for the change in season, the sunshine, time outside with my family, and spring family photos!

If you believe that fall is the best time for family photos, I’m here to convince you otherwise. While I do love fall colors. Mixing up the season in which you have your yearly family photo session will bring a beautiful change to your photos. (Besides, of course, how much your children are growing).

So what is there to love about Seattle spring family photo sessions?

Keep reading to find out.

Spring means beautiful blossoms for family photos.

After a long winter, the sight of blossoms all around is enough to excite anyone. Those blossoms can also serve as a beautiful backdrop for family photos, not to mention a fun activity of picking flowers for mom.

While I cannot guarantee “full bloom” at any particular park, there are many great locations around Seattle that we can seek out. From the cherry blossoms at the University of Washington and the Seattle Arboretum to North Bend’s Tanner Landing Park blossoms.

Your family will be ready for an adventure after a long winter.

If your kids are like mine, winter brings cabin fever. The kids are itching to get outside (or me itching to get them outside!).

With the warmer and drier days of spring, your family will be more than ready for a fun adventure. As a Seattle photographer, I have numerous locations that not only are beautiful for spring family photos, but also offer plenty of opportunities for your family to have fun together.

The light on spring sunny evenings makes a beautiful addition to your photos.

I am a lover of backlight, as I’m sure you’ve noticed if you’ve peeked around my website and portfolios. Although the days are getting longer in spring, sunset is still early enough that you do not have to keep the kids up super late to take advantage of an evening family photo session.

Family photo sessions in spring typically start around 4:30-6pm. However, during the summertime, family photo sessions start more towards 7:30-8:30pm.

Rain boots, light layers, and spring florals make for gorgeous spring family photos.

When the weather has been rainy, pull on those rain boots and let’s splash in some puddles. Kids will love that mom is actually telling them to hop into puddles for family photos!

You can also feel lighter with t-shirts, or cardigans and tank tops all in those beautiful, soft, spring colors and florals. Fall and winter may call for heavy sweaters and mittens, but spring weather can allow for lighter clothing.

There are things to consider about this time of year.

Each season has so many great reasons why to have family photos done. However, they also have things to consider that might make another season better for your family. Although there are many beautiful, warm days for spring family photos, there are also plenty of grey and/or rainy days, too.

We will create beautiful portraits on grey days. That is where those spring colors and florals really shine. and I have some great locations that work well in the rain. However, if you’re hoping for more of a guarantee for sunshine, summer might be the best option for your family. Or you can fly me to Maui with you, I’m always up for that! (wink, wink).

It’s good to consider the seasons with all their positives and negatives – but if you want photos now, don’t wait. Your family right now can make any season the best season. I may seem biased as a photographer, however, as a mother of six children, I can speak first hand to how quickly our babies grow. So whether you’re booking family photos in the spring, summer, or fall, just do it! You will not regret it.
