Hi, I'm Neyssa

I’m always looking for good books to read to the kids. A friend recently suggested The Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen. By the title alone I was like, hmm…don’t I have enough pouting in my house? But I picked up the book and was immediately drawn in with the interesting illustrations, and nice tones of sea colors. However, it was the words the sold me.
Pout-Pout Fish, children's book review, Friday FavoritesIt’s a rhyming book, but they are REAL rhymes. Nothing feels forced. (The perfectionist in me hates when things don’t actually rhyme.) And it has a fun little song/chant that the pout-pout fish says. Milo loves that at the end of each times the Pout-Pout Fish does his chant, he says “Blub, Bluuub, BLUUUUUUB.”
Pout-Pout Fish, children's book review, Friday FavoritesWhile I originally purchased this book with Hudson in mind, both Milo and Sawyer love it too. I even catch Milo reading it to Sawyer (at least the BLUB parts)! It is too sweet.Pout-Pout Fish, children's book review, Friday Favorites

And while I was researching the book, I found that there are a few other Pout-Pout Fish books; like The Not Very Merry Pout-Pout Fish, or The Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School. I haven’t read those ones yet, but I’m going to have to check them out. They might make great Christmas gifts for one of the kids!

My only warning is that you might be going around singing “I’m a pout-pout fish, with a pout-pout face…” but don’t worry too much, it’s all fun!
