I am excited to announce that I will be reopening for family, maternity and newborn sessions starting June 1st!! Of course, this can change should governor’s orders change. However, I am planning ahead and making arrangements for rescheduling sessions and booking new ones beginning “Phase II” of the governor’s plan.
As we all come are starting to come out of our homes we can’t help but worry a little about the safety of our family. I am going to do everything in my power to protect each family I photograph this year.
How will I do that? What will sessions look like moving forward and what can you expect for the experience? I’m here to answer all of your questions.
Everything except for the session is done online.
If you have already had a session with me, you know that everything from booking your session, paying your deposit, and even gallery delivery and album design are all done online. Not only are we keeping things easy and convenient for your family, but now it ensures limited contact between you and others.
Albums will now be shipped directly from the lab to your door.
As much as I love seeing your albums first and meeting you to deliver them, I want to allow you to limit contact. I will have your albums shipped directly to you for the remainder of the year.
Besides, who doesn’t love getting fun things in the mail anyways, right?! (I love getting packages in the mail!)
Families will be required to check your temperatures and reschedule when sick.
Normally a runny nose or little cough doesn’t bother me at all. I mean kids are little germ boxes! But, given the world we are in right now, I ask all of my families to check temperatures the day of the session. Should anyone be sick, we will reschedule the session.
There are no penalties or issues should you need to reschedule. I offer a flexible schedule allowing for easy rescheduling when everyone is healthy.
I, too, will be checking my own temperature and should anyone in my own family be sick I will reschedule in the same fashion.
During your session I will be wearing a mask & keeping 6ft away from your family.
While I do not expect you to wear a mask (I mean, we want to see those smiling faces!), I will be wearing a mask for added protection.
As much as I will want to squeeze your children and give you all hugs, I will keep my distance. Since I’m not one to physically pose you and rather I guide you verbally into poses, the experience will not feel different, and the results the same.
Curious what a session with social distancing could possibly look like? I shared a blog post earlier this week on this very topic. Go check out What Does a Family Photo Session Taken with Social Distancing.
Family sessions will be limited to one family per day.
I will be taking the extra precautions right now to limit the number of people I see a day by only allowing one family per day to book a session.
Given this, I cannot encourage you enough to get on the calendar sooner rather than later.
Locations will be carefully chosen.
Once again, I’m already careful with where I choose to hold family sessions. A location must have beautiful light (whether it is sunny or cloudy), space to explore, and photograph beautifully. I also want a location that isn’t crowded, because who wants other people in their family photos?!
In addition, I will be ensuring locations are open, available for use, and not suddenly hot spots for visitors.
I encourage families to schedule your session from June through September.
“They” (whoever they is, like government officials, or experts, anyone with more knowledge on COVID-10 than I have) are predicting a second major wave to strike later this year.
With that information, I encourage you to not wait until late fall just in case things are closed down or very limited again.
Let’s make sure your love for your family, your bond that is now stronger for making it through a pandemic, your joy in your family is all captured this year. It will be a year to look back to for sure.
I understand that your family is your most precious gift. I have their utmost concern in mind when photographing them. By working together, everyone remaining flexible and following these guidelines, we can keep everyone stays healthy and safe while ensuring your family’s legacy is documented.
