When I walked into this family’s home, I felt like I was in my own home. Big sister greeted me at the door, and her chatty and friendly demeanor reminded me of my own talkative preschooler at home. While mom and dad finished getting ready, big sister gave me a tour of the entire house (including the pantry and laundry room – I adore 3 year olds!). Baby sister was already trying to keep up with her sister and not miss a thing. She was wide eyed and alert for the first half of our time together. She did eventually fall asleep snuggly swaddled in a swaddle mom had gotten just for picture day.
We ended the session in the nursery for what are my favorite photographs from our time together. Big sister came to sit with her dad, eyes glued to the outdoors instead of on her baby sister. It reminded me of my son when my daughter was born. He loved her, that I knew, but he did not want to sit still and stare at her – there were much more interesting things to look at! I’m sure this big sister would have agreed. And you know what, that is okay by me. Their photos show her personality, her age, her spirit – all things I aim to capture during a family photo session.
Please enjoy a few favorites from this newborn photography session.
