If you book a session with me we talk about bringing props for family photos. I’m not talking about bringing your blue vintage chair to your session in the park (although that would be awesome). I mean, we talk about bringing items, or props) that make your kids feel comfortable, things that you never see your child without. For my kids, it would be a big truck and a big truck book for Milo, and for Sawyer it would be an Minnie mouse toy and her “baby.”
No lies, this family session goes into the all time favorite category. Wait until you see their props for family photos. But first, aren’t they gorgeous? Mom’s smile is my favorite part of the photo.
I’ve been teasing you with their props for family photos. Well, now you can see what I mean. This young man chose to bring his giant alligator. And then I let him decide to show me how he wanted to pose. I’d say he was a natural. He had an entire string of poses too.
Their oldest brought a guitar. I didn’t get to hear any music, but I’m told this could be his album cover!
You have to love their feet hanging off the side! This shot was also one of my favorites. So simple, yet tells us so much about the boys at this stage just in how they wear their shoes and what kind of shoes they wear.
Oh and this young man brought a book. I think he was a little annoyed I kept asking for his attention and disrupting his reading. But we got some great shots of him reading around the train station. If you look closely at the picture above, you may notice that he was still reading his book while I did the feet shot!
I don’t think I even need to give a story behind this shot. But I love the character shown here. I love that mom is smiling at her youngest while everyone else is looking at me. It is such a sweet shot with beautiful light!
We changed up our location to a new favorite spot in Snoqualmie. I know I’ve said this, but this is honestly my favorite family shot from the session. No, they aren’t looking at the camera, but their smiles are all so genuine, and I’m sure if you asked mom and dad, they’d said this capture their crazy boys. Plus, the boys loved “surprising” mom and dad while they were getting a few photos of just the two of them.
Who doesn’t love a jumping shot. Dad got some air! I don’t think I would get very high if someone tried this with my family!
I had such an amazing time capturing your family, preserving your story right now. Thank you for bringing such great props for family photos! They really add to the story!

P.S. Do you have some props for family photos to help tell your family’s story? Summer time is perfect time to update family photos (the weather is so much nicer and kids cooperate much more when it isn’t cold outside!) But session times are booking up quickly.
