Hi, I'm Neyssa

As I’ve been working on diving deeper into my passions and ways I can reach out and share my gift, I had thought about how I would love to take photos for foster children. I believe that every child deserves a record of their childhood, even if they were in the foster system. As a previous foster child myself, I ache for the photos of myself as a young girl. What was I like? What did I look like? As I have children of my own, I realize how this is even more important as I wish I could share photos of me with them. I was blessed to be adopted by an amazing family, who took lots of (embarrassing) photos of me through the awkward teenage years, so my kids have those to look forward to. But again, what about the lost years?
So I started thinking. What if I could provide photos for foster children? Obstacles started flooding my head, life got in the way, and this desire of mine got put on the back burner. That is, until recently, when it came back to hit me over the head. I received an email from a friend of a friend of a friend of mine. She is a foster mom of a baby who was turning 1 and wanted to capture this special time for her. Her passion about photos and desire to make sure the photos were passed along no matter where she go got me so excited. Of course, I could not turn away from this opportunity, I knew I had to donate a mini session for this family.

In honor of a 1st birthday, the foster mom baked a beautiful cake for a few cake smash photos! Although baby had little interest in the cake, I was able to capture special photos of her. I left the session feeling so filled! It was an experience I will forever remember. I’m so grateful that this family approached me, made the effort despite not knowing this baby’s future. When baby is older, she can have a few photos of her as an infant and know that she was loved.
