We are Painting with Purple for Pediatric Stroke this summer! Join me in spreading awareness about Pediatric Stroke.
Did you know that infants can have a stroke? Or what about a baby in utero? I had no idea.
Two years ago, a client and friend, Kaysee, had noticed that something was not right with her baby girl. At an early age, their daughter kept her left hand in a fist, using only her right side for grasping and playing with her toys. Kaysee pursued a solution with the utmost dedication. Doctors gave her all kinds of diagnoses, ranging from colic to early hand preference. Kaysee’s dissatisfaction with these answers kept her digging, until finally an MRI confirmed she had a stroke. With a diagnosis now meant they could begin the proper forms of therapy.
Last month I was honored in capturing Kaysee and her family. The most amazing part is that their two and a half year old pediatric stroke warrior is walking unassisted! It was so special to photograph her in action, and to see her personality shine as she expressed her independence.
While they have reached a huge milestone, this family’s journey is far from over. Battles with doctors and insurance companies over coverage for vital care and therapies along with lack of available information lead Kaysee to form the non-profit organization, Pediatric Stroke Warriors.
The mission of the Pediatric Stroke Warriors is to create community awareness, along with support and hope for families who are affected by pediatric stroke.
In effort to help raise money for this awesome organization, I’m hosting the Painting it Purple for Pediatric Stroke Mini Sessions. Last year the paint mini sessions were a client favorite. This year families (or just the kids) can create their own masterpiece using shades of purple in honor of Pediatric Stroke. For more details and to register click here.
Help me spread the word by sharing this post with local groups, friends, and family.
