Hi, I'm Neyssa

When this mama first approached me to take photographs her family of 10, I was so excited. She is a special woman who does amazing things in our church. She is always pouring herself out to others, She has been an encourager to me and my family, and been there in great times of need. Here was a way I could give back, by documenting her love for her family. I couldn’t wait.

However, as we began to plan the details she voiced a few concerns. Photos are an investment and she wanted to make sure it would be worth it. Not to mention the fact that she had 10 people (6 kids, 2 parents, 1 grandma, and 1 girlfriend)  to plan for and get ready. I assured her that it was all worth it. That a session with me isn’t about capturing that “perfect” everyone smiling at the camera shot, but about capturing a collection of images that show the dynamic and beauty that makes her family unique. They tell your story, they show how you are right now. I explained how I understand it is a lot of work to get everyone ready, and there are all of those worries that go along with it. After my response, she emailed me back saying, “Thank you for this very encouraging email.  You’re the best!  Your words make me feel so much more relaxed about a family photo session! I’m excited to work with you on this artistic adventure!” In that moment, I knew she got it and was even more thrilled to photograph her family.

There session was filled with so much love and laughter. I was giddy with every click of my shutter. To make their session even more special, we planned it so that I could capture their yearly tradition of picking out the Christmas tree. The subtle gestures of love in those candid moments are a few of my favorites. Sisters hugging each other, big brother doing the hard work of cutting the tree down. There was even singing as they all agreed on the perfect tree.

In the end, they were thrilled with their photos. I knew upon delivering their gallery and prints that they thought it was all worth it.
