Best baby shower gift ideas for your seattle newborn photography session

What are the best baby shower gift ideas for an expecting mom?

As a mother of 6, I get asked what the best baby shower gift ideas are. There are a few favorite things I like to get/give as baby gifts, so I’m sharing those things for you.

The very best baby shower gift idea is to stick to the couples’ registry.

The couple spent time picking out things they love and need for their baby. It may seem less fun to go off a list or to get a nasal aspirator, but if it’s on their list, they need it and will appreciate it. Each family has their own brand preferences, taste, and needs. When you stick to their list, you’re respecting that.

You can even ask if there is something they really want/need. If it’s larger, consider contributing towards that thing to help them get their dream say, stroller/crib/car seat or whatever it is they are really hoping for.

Another gift idea is a gift card to Target or Amazon.

Again, I know, it seems boring and less personal. But I promise, gift cards are one of my favorite things to receive as a mother (expecting or not, ha!). Target and Amazon have options for whatever someone could need. The gift cards can be used towards a bigger item being saved for, or for something last minute that mama realizes she needs on the way home from the hospital. It also allows for the parents to pick out clothes in the right sizes and styles that fit their tastes.

Gift cards are also something mom doesn’t have to worry about returning because it’s the wrong size or a duplicate item. And the last thing a new mom needs is a pile of things to be returned (even if those gifts were purchased with love).

My favorite baby shower gift idea is a newborn photo session.

Ask the couple if they’ve booked a newborn session and/or if they have a photographer in mind. Then seen if you can get a gift card towards a session, or a special album or prints for after the session. This will help the couple preserve such a special time for their family. They will also remember your gift as they appreciate their photos for years to come!

A beautiful swaddle and baby gown makes a great baby shower gift.

Everyone loves to purchase baby clothes. And who doesn’t love to buy tiny newborn stuff. But newborns and outfits are the least practical things. Instead get them a beautiful, soft, stretchy swaddle and gown that is great for those first weeks and photographs beautifully. My favorite brands are LouLou and Company, which even have newborn sets for a beautiful gift idea.

Customized wooden baby toys make wonderful gifts, too!

A beautiful and classic wooden toy is another favorite gift idea for expectant moms. I found Bannor Toys when I was pregnant with Cohen and loved how beautiful, simple, and classic their toys were. You can even get a name engraved right into the toy.

In the end, there are plenty of great baby shower ideas. I mean, shopping for babies is so much fun, right? I’d say try shopping right off their registry first, or going for that gift card or big gift you know they are saving towards to help the expecting family most.
