Newborn photography sessions are so special for me. With three children of my own, I understand that the time after you have a baby is like nothing else. You are figuring out how to parent this tiny little human, how to function as a family with a new member, all while running on mere hours of sleep and full of hormones. The minutes seem to drag on and fly by all at the same time. You find yourself hoping for more sleep while trying to hold onto every newborn detail you can.
This family session was extra special because they are dear friends of mine. I have had the opportunity to capture them from maternity, to Fresh 48, to newborn. This mama is an amazing photographer herself, but she knows the importance of getting in front of the camera, too. The new big brother was beyond sweet and could not keep his hands and kisses to himself. I did not have to ask him to kiss his sister once, he was willingly handing them out left and right. Big sister was snuggly with mom and still getting the hang of having a little sister around. Once the kids were done with their part, it was time to focus on mom and dad. You could tell they were confident and comfortable with their baby girl, not missing a beat when she started to fuss. Mom set her on the bed for some close ups and dad picked up his guitar to play her a sweet songs. It was such a real and beautiful moment. When I showed mom the image, she said “That is (my husband) with all of our kids.”
