Have you been searching for new ways to entertain and educate the kids this year? Homeschooling during a pandemic lead me to research and try out a bunch of projects with my kids. I wanted to ensure we included art in our studies. As I brainstormed, it hit me. COLOR THEORY!
Between kids loving rainbows and colors and the numerous ways we could apply color theory to art projects, I knew this would be a great study. Teaching my kids color theory would not only be fun but also easily adaptable for the variety of ages. Plus, it involves the rainbow, so my kids were on board.
I came across Stephanie Hathaway Designs in my searches and I fell in love with all of her curriculum.
I printed the lessons and included a few bonus, seasonal lessons that I found on Pinterest and my kids were using words like, “warm, cool, complimentary, tertiary.”
The best part, they were able to start helping me as I put together outfits for photos. They understood which colors were complimentary, or if we were going for a more neutral color pallet.
If you are looking for a little inspiration or jumping off point for what to wear for family photos all while having a fun lesson on color theory? You need to go grab Stephanie’s Color Theory Unit Study.
I cannot wait to see how learning about the color wheel inspires you!
